What I realized after filming this and watching it days later, is that sometimes, hell yeah moments don’t come in happy giddy bursts as one might suspect. This one sure didn’t. Sometimes a hell yeah moment comes after frustration or depression or confusion. Sometimes hell yeahs feel like anger… and that’s ok. As far as I’m concerned, as long as a hell yeah moment feels like relief, I’m moving in the right direction.
Pimping Past The Plan, geeze, this is something that I feel I coach over and over… the conversation usually goes something like this:
Client “I feel stuck and overwhelmed, I have no idea what I am supposed to be doing with my life!”
Me “What do you mean by that?”
Client “There is so much I want to do, how do I pick the one thing I’m supposed to do for my whole life?”
Me “Whoa, who says you have to pick just one thing?”
Client “I don’t know, everybody I know.”
Me “Well, I know you are going to roll your eyes when I ask you this, If everybody you know jumped off a bridge would you jump too?”
Client “No. You sound like my mom.”
Me “So what makes you think you have to buy into this ‘you only get to choose one thing’ idea?”
….. and then the fallacy that my client has to have his/her one true calling all mapped out starts to unravel, and when that happens those people begin to blossom, and inspire themselves to succeed, and they throw themselves fully into life.
That’s why I’m making this film, because it seems to me, there are a lot of people who have been hornswoggled into believing that they must choose a direction and once they do, they are not allowed to change course.

Melissa,
Wow! Thanks for the epiphanies in that post. It’s kind of great that you are a life coach making a film, it’s very cool to be able to get your insights about the process and how it is effecting your life and stuff.
I’m especially interested in what happens after your clients figure out that they don’t have to choose one thing? I mean, isn’t it just as daunting to know you can choose anything at anytime?
