I think that it's lack of use after that age that causes it to deteriorate. Tatiana is very lucky to have been aware of what she wanted and courageous to go for it despite what others may have been telling her at the time. I'd be one of those who have never really had something that grabbed them and (at 27) am finally starting to find a way to follow my heart that suits my more spread outlook.
